Cardiology Associates of Fairfield County, P.C.
Clinical Research Group
About our Program
Cardiology Associates of Fairfield County, P.C. Clinical Research group is part of a private cardiology practice with 22 doctors and five offices, with privileges at three hospitals in Fairfield County. In 2008 we developed a clinical research program within our practice to explore novel medications and devices. Our program has grown rapidly and has expanded into 35 different clinical research studies with over 1900 of our patients enrolled.
Our cardiologists oversee the preliminary results of the research studies in conjunction with our team of clinical research coordinators. It is the coordinators' main responsibility to conduct the day to day activities of the research studies while the physicians monitor the overall conduct of the study and patient safety.
Our studies typically involve new cardiovascular medications or devices that are in their final stage of FDA approval. In addition, we conduct post market research to ensure continuing safety and efficacy of medications and devices already approved by the FDA.
Patients who participate in clinical research studies provide a part of the data that is necessary to increase the wealth of knowledge of cardiovascular medications and devices.
